How to Use

A practical guide to RAN Locate for family, private groups, and authorized workforce use.

Create or join a group

Create a Family, Business, Friends, Trip, Event, or Work Crew group, or enter an invitation code. Every group has separate members, roles, places, alerts, and location-sharing choices.

Control your location

Location sharing starts only after you choose to enable it. Use the Map button to turn sharing on or off for the selected group. Account → Location sharing includes precise, approximate, scheduled, paused, and privacy-window controls when available.

Use the live map

Select a member to view their latest available location, update time, accuracy, battery, place status, and day history. A large accuracy ring means the device reported a wider GPS range; it is not a geofence.

Share a temporary trip

Use the Share shortcut on the map to enter a recipient name and phone number, select an expiration time, and optionally enter a destination. RAN Locate creates a private tracking link and opens a ready-to-send text. Destination sharing ends on arrival or expiration, whichever happens first.

Places and alerts

Save homes, schools, jobsites, and other places. Authorized members can configure arrival or departure alerts. GPS, network, permissions, and device background limits can delay an alert.

Schedules and work

Business and Work Crew groups can manage appointments, workers, shifts, arrivals, departures, and schedule alerts. Private group event coordination may use different features as they become available.

Driving and safety

Driving views summarize available trips and driving signals. Safety tools include SOS, emergency contacts, check-ins, and device requests, but RAN Locate is not an emergency service. Call local emergency services when immediate help is needed.
